'PLEASUFUTURE?!?' [mixed media on canvas, series of 3, 2007]
in august 2007 we took part in a group exhibition in the ZAKK cultural centre in düsseldorf, germany. most of the paintings of the 25 different artists were sold at an auction later on for the benefit of the homeless in our hometown: a total of 3.222 euros was collected. not bad. the theme of the exhibition is the radical change the neighbourhood of the ZAKK centre is going through at the moment: it used to be a somewhat charming and colorful area with squatted houses and everything. now big brother is putting up shiny bank buildings and big business towers and whatnot - he is led by EVIL!
an ad we put together back in 2006. published in a local event/activity print magazine, advertising our services. we still like it.
the text is saying: "...with pleasure. design is our daily bread. our creative will is like a little monster that always wants to be fed. and the forage are your dreams. from your dreams we make magnificent things: high quality and innovative contract work. actually... we do everything. on everything. you'll be surprised. ['traditional' graffiti jobs, graphic design, apparel design, event and store decorations, vehicles, photography...]
"Throwing up" a gäng sign (or "Stacking") with the hands is one of the most known and obvious forms of "claiming." It is used in many situations where other identifiers may not be possible or appropriate, and can also show that a gäng member is in the area to "do business" as opposed to just passing through. Usually these signs are made by formation of the fingers on one or both hands to make some sort of symbol or letter. (en.wikipedia.org)
